Kannawidan Ylocos Festival: keeping our roots alive to continue to strive

Kannawidan Ylocos Festival is a festival every Bigueño looks forward to, how can one not? this festival has so much to offer! from the showcasing of indigenous performances, to religious rituals, to cooking demos featuring the best of Ilocano dishes and so much more.

The festival not only features culture, tradition and history but also mixes modernity to the festival with aims to target the younger generation and engage them with Ilocos's history and culture for it to continue to live on. Besides from featuring Ilocos's Culture and history, this festival also commemorates the foundation of Ilocos Sur as a province in 1818. That is why it is significantly celebrated by Bigueño's because it is a season where we celebrate and relive our core and roots as well as promote our unique culture, tradition, and history, it a season dedicated to keeping our roots alive and to continue to strive against modernity.
