A Season of Renewal

Lent is a period of forty days during which Christians remember the events leading up to and including the death of Jesus Christ, whose life and teachings are the foundation of Christianity. The 40-day period is called Lent after an old English word meaning 'lengthen'

Lent follows the liturgical calendar which means the exact date lent season begins changes every year. This year, Lent season began last Wednesday, March two, and will finish at Thursday, April fourteen. During lent or lenten season, one of the most common practices Filipinos observe is to attend seven different churches, it is more commonly known as "Visita Iglesia" a tradition which dates back to 1500s.

But due to the pandemic, the celebrating of the lenten season has underwent a few changes to ensure the safety of the Filipinos. Such limitations and restriction has been made so that we are still able to observe our customs and also ensure our own and others safety. Let us not be disheartened if some events or observations are cancelled during the lenten season. We are still able to show our faith and gratitude to Jesus Christ in our own simple ways.

The lent season is a season for renewal, it is what we all need in times of hardship, especially under all thats been happening to the world currently. This season we shall lend gratitude to the Lord, love to all who deserves to be loved, and blessings to those who deserves to be blessed.
